We design and build made-to-order furniture for residential and small commercial interiors. Each piece is conceived through architectural thinking and realized through traditional joinery techniques.
Our approach to furniture making begins with understanding the space it will inhabit. We consider light, proportion, and function as equal partners in the design process.
Every commission starts with a conversation about how you live or work, what you need the furniture to do, and what materials resonate with you. We then translate these requirements into precise drawings and, finally, into physical form.
We work exclusively with solid timber and select veneers, preferring natural finishes that allow the material's character to emerge. Our joinery methods are traditional—mortise and tenon, dovetails, frame and panel construction—because these techniques have proven their durability over centuries.
This is not mass production. Each piece is built by hand in our Melbourne workshop, with attention to detail that only comes from working directly with the material.
Custom cabinets, wardrobes, and shelving systems designed to maximize space efficiency while maintaining visual clarity.
Dining tables, work desks, and occasional tables built with structural integrity and refined proportions.
Chairs, benches, and built-in seating that balance comfort with architectural form.
Furniture designed to house collections, books, and technology while maintaining a clean aesthetic.
We work primarily with Australian hardwoods—Blackwood, Tasmanian Oak, Victorian Ash—and select imported timbers when the design requires specific characteristics.
Each timber species has distinct grain patterns, color variations, and working properties. We choose materials that align with both the functional requirements and the visual language of the piece.
Finishes are kept minimal. We use natural oils, waxes, and water-based lacquers that protect the wood while allowing its natural beauty to remain visible. The goal is enhancement, not concealment.
We discuss your requirements, space constraints, and material preferences. This conversation forms the foundation of the design.
Preliminary drawings are created, refined through feedback, and finalized with detailed specifications and material selections.
Materials are sourced, milled, and joined using traditional techniques. Regular updates are provided throughout the build.
The completed piece is delivered and installed in your space, with final adjustments made on-site if needed.
Our workshop is located in Melbourne's inner north, a space designed for both precision and contemplation. Natural light fills the space during the day, creating conditions that allow us to see the true character of the materials we work with.
The tools we use are a mix of hand tools and carefully maintained machinery. Hand planes, chisels, and saws allow for the fine adjustments that define quality joinery. Power tools handle the heavy work—milling, dimensioning, and rough shaping—but the final fit and finish are achieved by hand.
This environment supports a methodical approach. We work on one or two pieces at a time, giving each project the attention it requires. There are no production lines, no shortcuts, no compromises on material selection or construction methods.
If you have a furniture requirement that cannot be met by standard offerings, we invite you to discuss your project with us. The consultation process is straightforward and without obligation.
